Welcome to the Keen Lake Boat Shed. When you’re at Keen Lake, we’ve found you can’t help wanting to explore the shoreline of our 90-acre lake! It is simply part of the Keen Lake experience. Rental options are many and varied. Find the one that is right for you and enjoy your time on the lake your way!
The Boat Shed
Boats are available to rent from 8:00 AM until dusk. Rentals are subject to 6% PA state sales tax. If you have brought an electric motor, ask for a rowboat that has a current PA registration. We provide Coast Guard-approved life vests for each person in the boat. Pennsylvania Law requires that vests be worn by all children ages 12 and under. We require a $20 deposit or driver’s license as security on the vests we provide, which will be returned to you upon return of the life jackets.

Regulations
Watercraft operators are responsible for knowing the rules and regulations for their watercraft. Operators are responsible for the actions of all persons aboard their watercraft. Daily Rentals are not available on holidays, and there are limited daily rentals on weekends—first come, first served. Rentals are subject to 6% PA state sales tax. Keen Lake provides Coast Guard approved PFD/life vests for each person in the rental watercraft. Keen Lake cannot enter into Boat rentals/contracts with persons younger than 18 years of age. Parents are responsible for all minors in watercraft under their care. PA Law requires children ages 12 and younger to wear safety vests. A $20 deposit or driver’s license is required upon rental of boat—monies/license to be refunded/returned upon return of vests, paddles, and other equipment in good condition.
Bringing Your Own Boat
Keen Lake has boat launch facilities available to our guests. Our guests may bring rowboats (14-foot max., electric motors only), kayaks, and inflatables used as boats for use on the lake. The cost to do so is $5 per boat (or $8 for two) or inflatable per day for every day you are in the boat and on the lake. (These fees do not apply to cottage and housekeeping rental guests.)
Requirements (by PA Law)
- Children age 12 and younger must wear a US Coast Guard PFD/life vest and be accompanied by an adult. We are not able to provide vests for private boats.
- Boats must have proper navigation lights for boating after sunset. (Keen Lake watercraft does not have navigation lights. All Keen Lake watercraft must be docked and returned by dusk.)
- Boats must have an emergency sound-producing device (whistle, horn, etc.) on board.
- Boats with electric motors must be properly registered and display valid stickers.
- Keen Lake does not permit swimming from any watercraft
- Watercraft may not enter into any buoyed areas
- Watercraft may not intrude in lake swimming area.
- Watercraft are not permitted in pond area near waterfall.
